Fine, I'm a Taso Chai Tea Late addict and my local Starbucks is Watchmoor Park, Camberley.
I'm one of those you see with a laptop in the corner typing away. Don't get us delinquents wrong, we're not here stealing realstate, each of my visits come to £8 to £10 and I camp there at least twice a week, so I pay my rent.
Starbucks have lost it, no more the Austin Powers cool / "in" / cutting edge place to hang out, more like a dump forgotten by the franchise that's losing focus fast - and looking at the current economic climate what a time to pick. Looking through their http://mystarbucksidea.com you'll be impressed; "You know better than anyone else what you want from Starbucks. So tell us. We're here, and we're ready to make ideas happen.", genius marketing - give people what they actually want! - but with great intentions it drives away all of their International customer base by showing how badly we get treated over here, and getting charged twice as much for it. What I want from my Starbucks is a convenient, clean, comfortable place with good service and quality drinks with reasonable prices. Take any of those key variables away and your on to a loser.
A year ago I signed up for a Starbucks loyalty card; absolutely no point to those things except the very occasional offers popping through the post, and today's gift: the Dark Cherry Mocha for Christmas. Another excuse to stop by.
Today's summary, the bad:
- nick
- smallest carrot cake in the world costing £1.75
- maybe the dirtiest Starbucks on the planet
- my drink one third foam
The good:
- one large free drink, (read one large froth!)
- and another free drink to replace the froth.
Conclusion:
Why am I complaining?? I had an evening's one hour entertainment for £1.75!!
You know what I'd love to do? - I'd like to take a Starbucks executive over to my local Starbucks for a drink - Coffee's on me.
Well, on a serious note, I guess it may be time to say goodbye.
I work in ealing and I used to get the same there as well with the staff. I go to nero now and they're better. They have loyalty stamps as well so I get my free coffee and they're cheaper.
